Here is an archive of past and present student art.

Description:

RMS Art is designed to cultivate and encourage each student’s intuitive creativity.  Students are allowed to experiment, discover, explore, and invent new ways to express themselves in a positive manner.  Projects will encourage the students to gain greater confidence in themselves and their abilities and will help them build positive self-esteem.

Students will also gain an understanding of the historical eras, and styles that have helped define forms and structures in the arts.  They will learn how the arts influenced the time and how they reflect the local and regional cultures.  Students will discover universal themes by comparing a broad range of cultural expressions from various times and places.

Methods and Materials:

Students will be exposed to a variety of art techniques and materials.  These may include but are not limited to; clay, collage, sculpture, assemblage, oil pastels, watercolors, woodworking and colored pencils.   Ample time will be allowed for students to experiment and play with the medium to further experience the processes. When the  schedule allows students will be able to have access to art room materials and let there imagination run wild as they create projects of their own choice.

 Grades:

All grades in art are based on finished projects and are graded on but not limited to the following criteria:

Did I take my time and do my personal best?
Did I listen to suggestions to improve my project?
Did I creatively express my own ideas?
Does my project fit into the assignment guide lines?
Is the project finished and matted?

All projects have a finish date when grades will be entered into the computer and we will no longer work on it in class.  To be considered completed a project must be matted if appropriate and have a card with the student’s name, grade and class period on it.

Unfinished projects or students who want to improve their project grade can do so with no penalty until the end of the quarter when final grades are due.
